Green Team's Brilliant Bug Hotel

After weeks of collecting cardboard, egg cartens, milk bottles, newspaper and cardboard rolls we finally faced the challenge of putting together Granton's very own Bug Hotel.  Green Team parents and Governors were invited to join us.

It was a perfect autumn day to be in the Nature Area at the team donned their wellies and gloves to begin creating  a perfect habitat for the bugs to survive the cold of the winter and the heat of the summer.

We stacked some pallets, and set about filling bottles with cardboard, straws and other recycled materials to provide insulation.  Then we inserted these into the pallets, ensuring we filled every space, added some fallen leaves and created a small roof garden with more cardboard and plant pots.

Then we stood back, and admired our creation. All in all it was an excellent demonstration of the power of teamwork and has resulted in another habitat to use as a learning resource in the Nature Area.

Well done to the Green Team and helpers.
