Year 1 Cinema Afternoon

We celebrated the end of their topic on Discovery with a lovely cinema afternoon.   We invited the Horizon group. We used all the information we have learnt about communication and made our own documentary to share with them.  As a year group we made tickets for entry, popcorn holders, a milk dispenser, flowers and evaluation forms.  It was a lovely way to celebrate our new friendship and share our outcome with the community.  Here are some of the comments from the Horizon group members evaluation forms:

Please tell us one thing you have enjoyed about meeting the children?

It's good to see what this generation do at school, so different from my time.

How polite and confident they were (thought they were year 2 children).

What was your favourite part of our film?

Hearing how the children understand communication both past and present.

Why do you think it is important that we link with the community?

Young and old learn from each other - useful to connect the past and present.
