Y6 Story Slam

This term, Year 6 dedicated two weeks of their Literacy & Topic work to planning, drafting, writing, editing and improving a World War Two inspired piece of diary writing.  At the end of their fortnight's work, a semi-final took place here at Granton, in which finalists from each class, Divy, Erika, Rachel and Wintana, performed their poems to our judging panel and the rest of Year 6.  Our judges, Mrs Barrio, Mrs Corbett and Miss Morris, were very impressed by the quality of all of the children's writing and performances and had a very hard decision on their hands!  In the end, the winner of our school semi-final was declared to be Erika, who then went on to take part in the live Story Slam final at the South Bank Centre on Wednesday 11th February 2015.

Year 6 went along on the day to support Erika and provided plenty of audience encouragement with their flags and banners; she did an amazing job of performing in front of such a large and daunting audience and is a winner to us all!

Story Slam always proves to be a highlight in the Granton calendar for Year 6 and we look forward to taking part again next year!
