Y5 at Shout South Writing Festival

10 writers from Year 5 were fortunate enough to take part in a 2 day writing festival at London's South Bank University on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th June 2015.

The Year 5 children worked alongside over 100 children from Lambeth, Wandsworth and Hounslow to unlock their creative talent at the festival which celebrates story-making for children and young people in London.  During the festival, the children were able to experience both the challenges and pleasures of storytelling.

From developing the initial spark, storyboarding and planning, playing with words and illustration to thinking about the plot, characters and even body language, the children all wrote and published their very own stories.

Celebrating each other's work also formed a large part of the festival, as they were encouraged to display their illustrations and stories across the festival space for everyone to see.

The action packed event culminated with an award ceremony on the Saturday afternoon, where the pupils were given individual certificates and prizes for their participation at the festival.
