School Council become Headteachers for the day!
On Monday 22nd June Mr Terrey very kindly – and bravely – handed the role of Headteacher over to the School Council.
The Year 6 children were at the gates in the morning ready to welcome parents and children into school ready for another week of learning.
As part of Assembly they then encouraged the children to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The whole school made 3 pledges:
1. To eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables every day.
2. To drink lots of water – especially in the hot weather.
3. To be more active.
They then dismissed the children from the hall, having encouraged them to have a good day of learning and playing together.
Miss Cooper then spent some time with the Headteachers, talking through with them what she does during the day and making suggestions as to some of the things they could expect.
The children then spent time during the day out of class on Headteacher duty. Jobs ranged from learning walks – checking that staff and children were happy and focussed, playground duty, computer work in Mr Terrey’s office and giving out messages over the tannoy system. The Headteachers were also a visible presence in the dinner hall at lunchtime.
At the end of the day the Year 6 Headteachers were to be found at the gates again to make sure everybody left the school premises safely.
Did the School Council enjoy being Headteachers for the day?
They certainly did!
Would they like to do it again?
Yes please!
