On Wednesday 11th March 2015, Granton hosted an exciting inter-school General Knowledge quiz for all of our local cluster schools. Granton submitted a team of four pupils to complete against local schools answering a wide range of general knowledge questions and was thrilled to take 3rd place at the end of the competition!
Quiz Club National Inter-School Quiz Championship involves more than 1200 UK primary and schools competing in a high-tech quiz at 120 locations across the country, making it the largest Inter-School competition in the country.
The Championship starts at school level, with schools running quizzes in the classroom to select their team. More than 300,000 children take part in these qualifier quizzes during this academic year. Once their team is in place, schools participate in a local Area Heat, competing against up to 11 other school teams. School teams comprise 4 players, one player each from year group in Key Stage 2 (ages 7 – 11).
The Area Heats are hosted by primary schools across the country and each event is presented by a professional Quizmaster, with players using a personal wireless handset to make their answers to 40 challenging multiple choice questions. The entire quiz is projected to a huge screen, making it thrilling entertainment for both the teams and their supporters.
