The Granton Family was saddened to hear of the passing of one of its alumnus, John Brooman, on 19th July 2014 at the age of 92.

John transferred to Granton Road from Eardley Primary on the school’s opening in 1928. John enjoyed great sporting success as captain of both the cricket and football teams in 1932/33.

From Granton, John went to the Bec Grammar School, joined a City firm of Chartered Accountants in 1938 and served as a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy in the War. He went into industry in the early 1950s and rose to become the global President of power tool company, Black & Decker, before retiring in the 1980s.
