GPS to represent Lambeth at the London Youth Games!
At the recent Lambeth Sportshall Athletics event the GPS Athletics team had great success. Out of the 499 Lambeth pupils who took part it was the GPS team who were overall winners. This great result means that GPS will represent Lambeth in the London Youth Games later this year. Many congratulations to the team, we are all very proud of you!
Report from Lambeth SSP:
Monday January 28th January saw 27 Primary schools from the borough decend on Brixton Recreation Centre over a morning and afternoon session of Sportshall Athletics competition.
Arguably there was an even higher level of athletic performance shown than ever before in this competition, some of the speed and endurance shown on the track was particularly impressive. There was drama too with the odd dropped baton as well as huge jumps and throws in the field events!
The whole competition was aided by a group of 13 Sport Leaders from nearby Evelyn Grace Academy who were #makingadifference at this competition. The group were assisting as part of their Level 1 Award in Sport Leadership and they truly showd off their skills in this area, helping to organsie groups and officiate events.
After two very competitive sessions all of the results were inputted into the Aviva Sportshall Official score centre. This was completed for the Mornng and Afternoon sessions seperately and then a new score centre created to compare the top 3 schools from each session against one another. The top 3 schools from the whole day can be seen below;
1. GRANTON
2. ST SAVIOURS
3. CLAPHAM MANOR
CONGRATULATIONS to Granton Primary School who were successful in winning the Sportshall Athletics competition for another year! Well done to all schools invovled and thank you to all for their attendance.
